Tom Detrick has more than 30 years experience in microwave system engineering, and is recognized as one of the leading experts in the industry. He is responsible for leading all of the microwave engineering and frequency coordination work in Pinnacle Telecom Group.

The scope of Tom's engineering expertise includes services planning, route and site selection, site and tower surveys, equipment specification, propagation analysis and path engineering, system performance and reliability analysis, frequency coordination and interference protection.

During his career, Tom has designed and frequency-coordinated literally thousands of microwave systems, and has served as both a principal engineer and project manager in a significant number of microwave, mobile and satellite radio communications projects. Before joining Pinnacle, Tom was with Edwards and Kelcey, Inc., and was a major contributor on projects such as: a microwave backbone and interconnect network for a major cellular radio provider; digital upgrade of a major long distance carrier's microwave backbone network; major expansion of a long distance carrier's microwave backbone network; a private microwave network for a regionally-distributed consumer products company; a technical investigation of microwave path propagation problems for an emerging cellular operator; a state-wide police communications system involving 900 MHz trunked mobile radio and microwave interconnects; and ongoing microwave system engineering, frequency coordination and protection services for existing EK clients. Tom also was a key microwave engineer for the design of Western Union's transcontinental microwave network.

Tom attended Newark College of Engineering. He was a founding member of the NSMA and was elected to two terms as the Association's Secretary. He also served the NSMA as an elected member of the Board of Directors for six years, and has consistently been a key contributor in NSMA Working Group 3 on frequency coordination procedures. In 2000, the NSMA formally recognized Tom's long-term achievements and contributions to the industry, and he was named an NSMA Fellow.
